Abstract:

Brazil is the third largest consumer of beef in the world, with an average of 36.7 kilos per inhabitant per year. The domestic market consumes around 72.1% of total production, while 27.9% is exported, especially to China, which accounts for 54.7% of exports. The article presents a diagnosis of the need to invest in the environmental literacy of meat consumers in Brazil, with the creation of campaigns aimed at different consumer groups, focusing on the relationship between food consumption and climate change. Brazilian consumers need to be asked to reflect on where their meat comes from.
