Researchers from INCT Participa honored with award at the 14th ABCP Meeting

Researchers from INCT Participa received an award from the Brazilian Political Science Association (ABCP) at its 14th Meeting held in Salvador. Gisela Zaremberg and Debora Cristina Rezende de Almeida received an honorable mention for the Victor Nunes Leal Award for their book, Feminisms in Latin America: Pro-choice Nested Networks in Mexico and Brazil (Cambridge University Press, 2022).

The book provides a comparative analysis of contemporary feminist movements in Latin America and their responses to conservative backlash. Focusing on the pro-choice movement via-à-vis the anti-abortion countermovement in Mexico and Brazil, it examines how feminists, leveraging their diversity and connections to the state, can face attacks from conservatives.
INCT Participa brings together a wide network of researchers across all regions of the country, dedicated to producing action-oriented scientific knowledge and known for its strong track record of collaboration and expertise.

Over the years, this distinguished research effort has been honored by leading associations in the field, including the ABCP, Brasil’s National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Social Sciences (ANPOCS), and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), as well as by funding agencies such as Brazil’s Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
