The “First Cultural Market Diagnosis of Jacareí” was developed in partnership with the city’s Cultural Foundation through a participatory process involving key players in the cultural market. It stems from a need identified by both the artistic community and the Cultural Foundation to organize cultural data and understand the reality experienced by artists in order to inform decision-making.

The Diagnosis aims to identify and highlight practices, challenges, and opportunities from the perspective and lived experiences of the actors who make up this market: artists, producers, public and private cultural managers, audiences, and cultural sponsors.

The project has three specific objectives: to develop a cultural diagnostic methodology that can be applied and replicated in other territories; to characterize the agents that make up Jacareí’s cultural market; and to identify cultural production and consumption practices in the municipality of Jacareí across various cultural fields.

It is structured around two main pillars. The first, Dialogues and Training, consists of monthly meetings in cultural spaces to present the diagnosis results and build collective actions to strengthen the sector. The second, Development of an App Prototype, will digitally map local culture, gathering information about venues, artists, and productions, promoting greater visibility and accessibility.

In 2023 and 2024, the project focused on developing a methodology for conducting cultural diagnoses and training local agents across different territories, enabling them to collect and analyze their own data. In 2025, the project continues along this path, preparing agents to work in this market. The medium-term goal is to develop a social technology for cultural data management, to be carried out by agents in small and mid-sized municipalities where cultural information is either underdocumented or nonexistent.

Among the expected results are: strengthening the cultural community’s capacity to operate more professionally within their organizations and collectives; creating collaborative networks between cultural agents and organizations; encouraging participation in public cultural policies; developing a functional app to facilitate connections between artists, the public, and tourists; and strengthening Jacareí’s cultural market by promoting sustainable practices in cultural and tourism management.
