News and Events

The 1st Integration Workshop of the research project “Social Participation in the Lula Government” took place during the last week of November. Its objective was to present and discuss the results of this study, which is one of the projects developed within INCT Participa. The project team is composed of researchers from the SociDem research group at UEM and GEPPADE at Unesp, both affiliated with INCT Participa.

According to researcher Carla Almeida, coordinator of SociDem, the discussions promoted by the event made it possible to refine the analyses and outline new steps for the research. Among the preliminary findings, it stands out that the strategies for rebuilding Participatory Institutions (PIs) during this period have varied according to the institutional strength and the configuration of policy communities in their respective areas.

“Actors have mobilized political creativity to sustain social participation in a persistent context of democratic uncertainty, while the new participatory arrangements created during this period face the challenge of building institutional coordination capable of avoiding overlaps and competitive dynamics,” she states.

The results will be presented starting in 2026, at scientific events and in academic journals.

In addition to Carla Almeida, those present at the 1st Integration Workshop of the research “Social Participation in the Lula Government” included Carla Martelli, coordinator of GEPPADE; Luana Taborda (SociDem and GEPPADE); Carla Bernava (SociDem); and researchers from other centers, such as Ligia Luchmann (UFSC), Joanna Vaz (LabRural/UFRN), among others.

For those who participated in the workshop, certificates of participation are available here.
