News and Events

The year 2026 is already underway, but it is still time to announce the new developments at INCT Participa for this new cycle.

One of the most anticipated initiatives will be the debate series focused on the elections at the end of the year. The project will be promoted by the Internal Training Working Group throughout the first half of 2026, with the possibility of extending into August and September.

The initiative will bring together experts from different areas of the Social Sciences to discuss key themes of the political process, always with regional, thematic, and institutional diversity, in line with INCT Participa’s goal of fostering dialogue among different areas of expertise and perspectives.

To build a diverse and representative program, we invite researchers from the centers to suggest, in this spreadsheet, names of experts who could take part in this debate series.

We are also very excited about the Research Workshops, an initiative that will bring together researchers from the 18 INCT Participa centers, organized by thematic axes, to discuss the processes, challenges, and advances of their research.

The Workshops will promote meaningful dialogue among researchers at different career stages—from undergraduate research students to senior scholars—and will serve as a strategic space to foster targeted exchanges among researchers and their work: what are we producing? What do we have in common? What kinds of new research or outputs can we propose for INCT based on these projects?

This initiative will be developed in two phases: a series of virtual meetings and an in-person meeting in 2026, to be held in São Paulo, on a date to be defined.

Finally, we will continue the main launches from 2025, including the major databases of OPar (the Participa Observatory), Radar Participa, which monitors innovative initiatives across Brazil and the world, Memórias da Participação, which gathers testimonies from figures who helped build the field of participation in Brazil, and the Justiça Tributária series, which examines the relationship between progressive social movements and taxation.

This year will also see the first results of the Thematic Connections, inter-center groups producing materials with pedagogical, training, or scientific relevance.

These are just some highlights, and throughout the year, other projects will be announced. Stay tuned to our website and social media.

Wishing us all a productive (and restful) 2026!
