Brief Description: The research group Tecnologia, Meio Ambiente e Sociedade - TEMAS is affiliated with the Graduate Program in Rural Development (PGDR) and the Graduate Program in Sociology (PPGS) at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). It brings together researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and master’s and doctoral students. TEMAS addresses issues related to the environment, science, and technology in a broad sense, covering topics such as environmental conflicts and “development” projects, climate change, food production and markets, scientific controversies, and technological innovations. The analytical approaches used in TEMAS research combine perspectives from Social Studies of Science and Technology, literature on environmental conflict, critiques of development, and decolonial studies.
