The INCT Participa has just launched a new initiative: the text series “Memories of Participation”, featuring accounts from researchers who are key references in the field of social movements and participation in Brazil. The publication will be released monthly.
More than simple recollections, these texts preserve and share the academic journeys of professionals whose research has been innovative, seeking to establish a direct dialogue with the country’s recent history.
By highlighting the voices of those who work in the field — in demonstrations, communities, associations, and various arenas of participation — the series offers unique material both for the training of new generations of social scientists and for the collective memory of social struggles.
In doing so, “Memories of Participation” fulfills a dual purpose: on one hand, it pays tribute to the intellectual and human contributions of pioneering researchers; on the other, it provides an indispensable collection for understanding how knowledge about social participation in Brazil has been built.
The first honoree in the series is Maria da Glória Gohn, whose research highlights the power of collective action to democratize state institutions and civil society.
